Fundacion Servir English and Computer class pupils headed out for a fun day out in the snow in the high Andes on Sunday 25th August. The cultural excursion to Los Puquios was a chance for 24 pupils to play in the snow, some for the very first time, and also learn a bit about water conservation from the source of Mendoza's water: the mountain snow.
Almost all of the children and adults living in Ugarteche had never been up to the mountains, and so playing in the snow and doing some sledging and tubing was a real novelty for everyone. Adults and children all had a go, and with only a couple bumps and bruises on the way it was an exhilarating activity that everyone enjoyed.
Taking advantage of the picnic area 'picniclandia' at Los Puquios, the group sat down for a healthy picnic to warm up before heading off to visit Puenta del Inca and learn a bit about this heritage site. During the stunning trip on the way back, which was expertly navigated by Oscar and Hugo from Transporte El Angel, we had a mini class learning about where our water comes from and how to conserve it, along with sketches to colour in!
This was a great winter activity and an enjoyable challenge for everyone in experiencing something new, visiting and seeing this part of the landscape for the first time, and team building during the day long adventure. Everyone had a great day out and we are all very keen to go back to Los Puquios next year if we're lucky!
Thank you very much to Oscar and Hugo from Transporte El Angel who kindly donated their time and vehicles in expertly taking us all to the high Andes mountains for a full day. Thank you kindly to Los Puquios for inviting us to play in the snow with them and use their equipment and facilities. http://www.lospuquios.com.ar/ [email protected]

[email protected] http://www.lospuquios.com.ar/
